Joan Hiller seeks to articulate personal interior landscapes by engaging with symbolic color, suggesting tonal references to urban and natural habitats, and practicing action-based addition and removal of materials from her abstraction work. She explores the existing symbiosis between automatic impulse and controlled intention, the correlation between aural/visual environments and the interior state, and what the myriad layers of our own emotive thought processes might look like.
